There are mainly the following types of brushless DC motors (BLDC):

Inner rotor design: In the inner rotor design, the rotor is located in the center of the motor and the stator windings surround the rotor. Since the rotor is located inside the core, the rotor magnets are not insulated inside and the heat is easily dissipated, so the motors with inner rotor design produce a lot of torque and are used effectively.

 

Outer rotor design: In the outer rotor design, the rotor surrounds the windings located in the core of the motor. The magnets in the rotor capture the heat of the motor inside and do not allow it to dissipate from the motor. Motors of this design operate at lower rated currents and have lower cogging torque.

 

Single-phase motor, two-phase motor, three-phase motor: Depending on the drive phase, brushless DC motors can be divided into single-phase, two-phase and three-phase motors. Three-phase motors are the most commonly used type.

Inductive motors and inductive motors: Depending on whether sensors are installed, brushless DC motors can be divided into inductive motors and inductive motors. Inductive motors use devices such as Hall sensors to detect the rotor position, while inductive motors detect the rotor position through other means (such as back electromotive force detection).

 

Application areas of brushless DC motors: Brushless DC motors are widely used in daily life appliances, automotive industry, aviation, consumer electronics, medical electronics, industrial automation and other devices and instruments. Its high output power, low electrical noise, high reliability, high dynamic response, less electromagnetic interference, better speed-torque and other advantages make brushless DC motors an important driving device in the modern industrial field.
